What The Name Means
Backslasho is: \ + o
It's a little guy waving, like hello or goodbye \o
It's a text emoticon for waving, symbolizing a person's head and arm in ASCII art, signifying greetings or goodbyes.
There is also o/ (oslash) which means the same thing, but oslash.com is taken, which is fine, because I kinda like \o better anyways ;)

Who We Are
I'm a graduate of ITT Technical Institute who studied Information Technology and Information Systems, I created and built Backslasho and have previously built a few other smaller websites in the past.

Back around 2021, I got an itch to try building a Social Networking website, so I've been slowly building Backslasho a bit here and there for the past years.

When I first started building this website, I couldn't think of a name for it right away, and I was seeing people in chatrooms using o/ and \o in the chats to say Hi!, and I thought oh! I can use that as a temporary placement logo while developing.
So I started putting \o as the "temporary" logo, and it hit me one day to also call the website Backslasho as the temp name while developing.
And here we are, still the same logo and name. :)

Our Goal
My goal is simply to build a simple, clean, and useful Social Networking website that has no political bias, and functions as a great medium and platform for people to be able to connect with each other and share opinions, thoughts, and ideas freely with each other and the world.

So the end goal is to be a reputable Social Networking website and remain that way for years to come.

Where We Are Located
We don't really have a physical location yet since we're brand new with only me developing so far, but I am located in the Phoenix Area of Arizona, U.S..
As this website grows, I hope to be able to hire other people/employees to help out, and I imagine our main physical location will eventually end up somewhere in Phoenix (No guarantee on location just yet though).
